When The Bride Says I Don’t to Photos
A stark reminder of the pitfalls that can beleaguer both photographer and the bride and groom.
In the May 12th edition of Greater Manchester Business Week it ‘s reported that a pair of newlyweds have launched legal action against their photographer and brings mixed news for the business community.
According to GM Business Week, the couple were unhappy with their photographer’s images and even sought independent evaluation from the Guild of Photographers as they pursue a 4-figure payout!
It’s a reminder to photographers of the need to meet their client’s expectations whilst at the same time I believe it highlights even more the need for bride and grooms to evaluate their choice of photographer properly. It also underlines that cheapest is not always the best factor in the decision making process, although I am not saying this particular couple chose their photographer by this measure.
I feel extremely saddened that the bride and groom have not ended up with the images they had hoped for, whilst I feel for a fellow photographer who now faces the prospect of a tough legal fight, where there is only ever one winner and that is the legal teams fighting it out on both sides.
The end result being that the bride and groom get some measure of compensation, but still won’t have the images they expected to have got; and the photographer has a tarnished reputation and possible large bill if not adequately insured for this eventuality.
